Colorado Rapids News Release
COMMERCE CITY, Colo. - The Colorado Rapids announced today the club has loaned defender Miguel Navarro to Club Atlético Talleres in Argentina's Primera División for the 2024 season on a one-year loan with an option to buy.
"Miguel is a talented, starting-caliber player in MLS. We hope this loan will allow him to maintain his place in the Venezuelan National Team, given increased competition at the position in our squad. This loan will allow him to continue to build his profile in both North and South America by exposing him to the Copa Libertadores competition as well as being involved in one of the most progressive clubs in Argentina," said Rapids Sporting Director Fran Taylor.
Navarro, 24, joined Colorado in December of 2023 after spending the previous four seasons with Chicago Fire FC. The defender made 104 appearances for Chicago across all competitions, delivering 11 assists. Prior to joining Chicago in 2020, the Maracaibo, Venezuela, native spent the entirety of his career in the Primera División, Venezuela's top-flight professional league. Navarro played for Deportivo La Guaira from 2018 to 2019, following his professional debut with Deportivo JBL del Zulia in 2017.
Club Atlético Talleres, based in the city of Córdoba, was founded in 1913 and currently plays at Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes, formerly known as Estadio Olímpico de Córdoba. La T finished as the runner-up in the Primera División last season and reached the final of the Copa Argentina in 2022. In addition to league play, Talleres will be competing in the 2024 Copa Libertadores.
