Colorado Rapids News Release
COMMERCE CITY, Colo. - The Colorado Rapids announced today the club has declined midfielder Jack Price's contract option for the 2024 Major League Soccer season.
"We're incredibly grateful to Jack for everything he brought to our club over the last six years," said Colorado Rapids President Pádraig Smith. "He was a selfless leader both on and off the pitch, quickly becoming the heartbeat of our team and a vital contributor to the success we saw during his time here. We wish him nothing but the best as he enters the next chapter of his career."
Price, 30, joined the Rapids ahead of the 2018 season from England's Wolverhampton Wanderers and quickly become a key figure in Colorado's midfield as one of the most effective distributors in MLS. In his second year with the club, Price became the first Rapids player since 2010 to log double-digit assists in an individual season (11) while setting an MLS record for the most set-piece assists in a single year (10). Following a truncated 2020 season impacted by COVID-19, Price enjoyed a career 2021 season in which he recorded 12 assists, tied for fourth-most in MLS, as the Rapids topped the Western Conference for the first time. In all, Price logged 35 assists, second-most all-time in club history, and added two goals across 123 regular-season appearances for Colorado during his six seasons at the club.
