Colorado Eagles Upset Blazers, 4-1

Windsor, CO – The Colorado Eagles of the Central Hockey League (CHL) earned their first home win, 4-1, against the Oklahoma City Blazers tonight at the Budweiser Events Center. The Eagles experienced their first win in the presence of a sold out, 5,211, fans at the Budweiser Events Center.

The Blazers took an early lead when forward Ryan Watson scored the first goal of the game 9:27 into the first period, the goal was assisted by right winger Justin Kot. The Eagles answered the Blazers goal 56 seconds into the second period when defenseman Brent Thompson scored a goal assisted by defenseman Scott Swanson and left wing Karlis Zirnis. Forty-nine seconds later forward Cam Kuzyk netted a goal assisted by Thompson and Zirnis. The Eagles scored again 13:01 into the period, defenseman Brad Williamson scored the goal assisted by defenseman Lee Ruff and forward Daniel Bohac.

In the third period the Eagles scored yet again, this time on a power play. Zirnis netted the goal 1:29 into the third period, assisted by defenseman Igor Bondarevs and left wing Mike McGhan.

Eagle's goalie Ryan Bach had an outstanding game with 32 saves on 33 shots. The Eagle's defense was remarkable with 7 penalty kills in as many chances, both making the difference in the win against the Blazers.

The face off between the Eagles and the Blazers was jam-packed with penalties. Combined the team served 17 major penalties, 3 misconducts, and 18 minor penalties for a total of 141 penatly minutes served for 37 infractions.
