Pittsfield Colonials News Release

RAMAPO, NY - Chad Paronto and two relievers held the Rockland Boulders to a pair of solo homers and the Pittsfield Colonials got enough offense to muster a 3-2, emotionally charge victory over Rockland.

Pittsfield earned the first runs of the game in the third inning as singles by Jerod Edmondson and Billy Mottram scored Quentin Davis and Edmondson for a 2-0 lead. There was also some excitement in the inning as Davis had to barrel over Rockland catcher Chase Weems in order to score his run.

The Colonials would add to the lead in the fifth inning when Angel Molina drove home Danny Bomback, who had been hit by a pitch and moved up to third on a Mottram single.

Rockland made things interesting in the sixth as Barry Wesson and Norm Hutching led off the inning with back-to-back homeruns to slice the Pittsfield lead to 3-2.

That was as close as the Boulders would get, however, as Chad Paronto and two relievers shut the door. Paronto (8-6) allowed just those two runs on seven hits over seven innings. Chris Rubio and Mike Zenko pitched a scoreless inning each, Zenko tossing the ninth to pick up his fourth save of the year. Bobby Blevins (6-7) went the distance for Rockland in the loss, allowing just three runs, striking out five.

Pittsfield now heads north to take on the Quebec Capitales in a three game weekend series. Tim Stronach (2-2, 2.95) gets the start for Pittsfield. All three games of the series will be broadcast on 89.7 WTBR FM. Friday's pregame show will begin at 6:45 p.m. outside of a 7:05 p.m. first pitch.
