Colonials Routed by Quebec 15-3

Pittsfield, MA - The Pittsfield Colonials fell 15-3 the Quebec Capitales at Wahconah Park in Pittsfield, Massachusetts on Monday evening.

Quebec shortstop Ivan Naccarata (5-for-6, 6R, 2B, 2HR, 4 RBI) enjoyed a monster night, tying a Can-Am League record with five hits in the game and scoring a record six runs. Naccarata reached base all six times, homering twice and driving in four runs for the Caps. Alex Nunez (2-for-6, HR, 3 RBI) belted a three-run shot while teammate Robert Wagner (2-for-5, 2B, 3 RBI) also knocked in three runs for the winners.

Capitales' starting pitcher Matthew Rusch (8-1) earned his league leading eighth victory going six innings, giving-up three runs on four hits, no walks, and five strike-outs. Reliever Sean Gregory (4) dealt the final three innings without allowing a hit to record the save.

Colonials' starter David Qualben (3-5) suffered the loss going four innings allowing eight runs (six earned) on ten hits. Relief pitcher Matt Lyons gave up four runs in two innings of work. Rafael Lluberes also conceded two (unearned) runs in one inning out of the bullpen.

Pittsfield's Jerod Edmondson (1-for-4) extended his hitting streak to 17 games with a first inning single. Shortstop Matt Nandin (2-for-4, 2B, HR, 2 RBI) hit his fifth home run of the year and drove in a pair for the Colonials while left fielder Rafael Cabreja (1-for-2, 3B, RBI) notched an RBI triple

The Colonials will play game two of the three game series with Quebec on Tuesday evening at 7:05pm when Kyle Zaleski (7-1) takes the mound for Pittsfield against the Capitales' Michelle Simard (3-4).
