
Colonials' Flores Delivers Gem, Beats Jackals 6-0

Little Falls, NJ - The Pittsfield Colonials ended a five game losing streak, blanking the New Jersey Jackals 6-0 at Yogi Berra Stadium on Thursday night.
Colonials' starting pitcher Miguel Flores (1-1) delivered career highs with eight and two-thirds innings pitched and eight strike-outs in his third start of the season for the victory. He allowed seven singles and walked six batters in the shut-out. Reliever Giuseppe Granitto retired the only batter he faced to close the game for Pittsfield out of the bullpen.
Pittsfield first baseman Wellinson Baez (2-for-4, R, 2 RBI) had his first multi-hit and multi-RBI game for the Colonials driving in a pair of runs. Catcher Zane Chavez (2-for-4, 2B, R, RBI), had the only extra-base hit of the game with an RBI. Center fielder Jerod Edmondson (2-for-4, RBI, BB) continued to pace the Colonials' overall offensive production, batting in his team leading 14th RBI of the season.
Jackals' starter Nick Asselin (1-2) took the loss over seven innings of work, giving-up five runs on nine hits, two walks and no strike-outs.
The Colonials head back to Pittsfield and will open-up a three game weekend series when they meet Worcester Tornadoes for the first time in 2010 on Friday night. Right-hander Matt White (1-1) is schedule to make his third start of the season for Pittsfield at Wahconah Park at 7:05pm.
