Sussex Skyhawks News Release
The Sussex Skyhawks are proud to announce the signing of 3B Nick Giarraputo. The California native was signed on Monday, June 7 prior to the Skyhawks' game at CenturyLink Field at Skylands Park against the Brockton Rox. In his first two games with Sussex, Giarraputo is 1-for-6 with one walk and one stolen base.
The 6-4, 200-pound 22-year-old was drafted by the New York Mets in the 12th round of the 2006 MLB amateur entry draft. He is a career .254 hitter in the minor leagues and has recorded three homeruns and 94 RBI as a professional. Last year with the Savannah Sand Gnats, a Class A affiliate of the Mets, Giarraputo hit .397 in 20 games.
To make room for Giarraputo on the roster, the Skyhawks released 3B Jansy Infante. In 26 at-bats with Sussex, Infante tallied seven hits and two RBI.
