Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release

It's just not the Goldeyes on the field getting the recognition they deserve for being good at what they do.

For the fifth time in eight years, general manager Andrew Collier was named the Northern League Executive of the Year. He got the news today, one day after infielder Adam Frost was named NL Rookie of the Year and one week after pitcher Ace Walker, second baseman Josh Asanovich and designated hitter Juan Diaz were named to the NL All-Star Team.

Voting for the award was conducted by managers, radio announcers and media as well as league directors and general managers.

"This award could have been won by any number of deserving people, so I am equally flattered and honoured," said Collier. "To work with the best staff in professional baseball, one that works hard year-round to put on a good show, is truly a pleasure. It's even more of a pleasure knowing we get to do this for the best fans in baseball, who came out once more and supported us in such amazing numbers."

Under Collier, the Goldeyes drew 278,099 fans to lead the Northern League in attendance for the tenth-straight year. Their average crowd of 6,180 was also tops among all 63 teams in the eight independent leagues.

In their 11 years at Canwest Park, the Goldeyes have played to more than 3.2 million fans during the regular season.
