Northern League Names 2009 Executive of the Year

September 7, 2009 - Northern League (NL) News Release

Winnipeg Goldeyes General Manager Andrew Collier was selected as the 2009 Northern League Executive of the Year as voted on by select league personnel and players.

Collier, who has been General Manager of the Goldeyes since December 2001, is a five-time recipient of the Northern League Executive of the Year. He previously received the honor in 2002, 2004, 2006, and 2007.

Behind Collier's leadership, the Goldeyes welcomed a league-high 278,099 fans through the gates of Canwest Park in 2009. The franchise led the league in average fans per game for the tenth straight season and led all independent leagues averaging 6,180 fans per game. To date, the Goldeyes are the only Northern League club to sell over 300,000 tickets in a season. In addition, their average attendance has twice surpassed the 7,000 fans per game, the only independent league franchise to ever do so. On the field, the Goldeyes qualified for the post-season in 2009 for the 14th time in the team's 16 years and won 50-plus games for the fourth consecutive season and for the 11th time in franchise history.

Dating back to their entry into the Northern League in 1994, the Winnipeg franchise has been honored with the Executive of the Year seven different times (Collier five times, John Hindle twice).

Collier, a native of Portage la Prairie, MB, has been with the Goldeyes for each of the organization's 16 seasons. He lives in Manitoba with his wife, Carleigh, and two children, son Donavan (5) and daughter Olivia (3).
