Coco Montes Belts 36th Double in Hartford Loss

Hartford, CT - The Sea Dogs used a five-run sixth inning to defeat the Yard Goats by the score of 12-5 on Saturday evening at Dunkin' Donuts Park in Hartford. Red Sox prospect Triston Casas hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the third inning and Devlin Granberg added a grand slam in the sixth as the Sea Dogs won the fifth game of a six-game series. Coco Montes cracked his Double-A leading 36th double and Casey Golden and Sean Bouchard each had two hits in the final night game of the season. The Yard Goats finish the season with a day game tomorrow at 1:05 PM.
The Yard Goats scored a pair of runs in the first inning off Sea Dogs starter Jay Greene. Sean Bouchard led off with a single and stole second base. After Michael Toglia walked, Casey Golden singled to left field, scoring Bouchard to give Hartford a 1-0 lead. Willie MacIver followed with an RBI single, scoring Toglia to make it 2-0 Yard Goats.
The Sea Dogs got a run in the second inning on a pair of doubles from Ryan Fitzgerald and Jason Rosario to make it a 2-1 game. In the third inning, the Sea Dogs took a 3-2 lead as Triston Casas smashed the go-ahead two run homer into the right field porch seats. Portland added two more runs in the fifth inning on a two RBI single by Ryan Fitzgerald to make it a 5-2 game.
The Yard Goats responded on back-to-back doubles by Coco Montes and Michael Toglia and it was 5-3. Willie MacIver hit a sacrifice fly to make it a one-run game at 5-4.
However, the Sea Dogs scored five runs in the sixth inning, highlighted by a grand slam home run by Devlin Granberg, giving Portland a 10-5 lead.
The Yard Goats play the final game of the 2021 season on Sunday afternoon (1:05 PM) against the Red Sox affiliate, the Portland Sea Dogs.
