
Cochrane To Rock Memorial Cup

Brandon, MB. -- Seven-time Juno award winner Tom Cochrane will be part of FanFest during the 2010 MasterCard Memorial Cup. The 2010 MasterCard Memorial Cup Host Organizing Committee announced Monday afternoon that Cochrane will headline the Memorial Cup Finals Weekend Social, to be held on Saturday, May 22nd in the Keystone Centre's Manitoba Room.
Born in Lynn Lake, Manitoba, Cochrane is best known for his hits "Life is a Highway", "Big League" and "I Wish you Well" and has had a distinguished career, both as a solo artist and as front man for the group Red Rider.
Cochrane is one of the most decorated musicians in Canada. He is a member of the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, an Officer of the Order of Canada, has an Honorary Doctorate from Brandon University and is an Honorary Colonel in the Canadian Air Force. In September 2009, he was inducted onto the Canadian Walk of Fame.
An avid golfer, pilot and hockey buff, Cochrane has been involved with charitable and worthwhile volunteer organizations such as Recording Artists Against Drunk Driving, Power Aid, and World Vision.
Cochrane's concert will be one of four "ticket" events to take place during the Championship. Ticket prices, availability, as well as more news regarding this year's Memorial Cup entertainment plans will be announced shortly.
Other Memorial Cup ticket events will include the Opening Banquet on Thursday, May 13th, the Manitoba Homecoming Kick-off Social on Saturday, May 15th as well as the Canadian Hockey League Awards Ceremony at the Westman Centennial Auditorium on May 22nd.
The 2010 MasterCard Memorial Cup will be held in Brandon from May 14-23rd, marking the first time that the National Championship has been hosted in the province of Manitoba.
