Carolina Cobras News Release
GREENSBORO - The Cobras resign defensive leaders Cedric Poole (5'11", 190) and Darius Thomas (6'1", 190) for the 2019 season.
Poole was a key defensive component in the Cobras 2018 inaugural season championship run. In his 13 games active, Poole racked up 63.5 total tackles, good for second-most in the league during the regular season behind the Maine Mammoths' Keiro Jones Sr.'s 83, and most for the Cobras, leading defensive-backs Michael Green and Darius Thomas. Poole also lead the Cobras in interceptions, recording 9 on the season, with one during post-season play, and returned a missed field goal attempt for a touchdown during the regular season.
Thomas, too, played a big role in the Cobras' secondary. Thomas recorded 34 total tackles during the regular season and was able to recover one of the Cobras 14 fumble recoveries during the course of the season.
The two defensive backs rejoin the team for the upcoming season following a slew of defensive re-signings, including LB Anthony Ellis, DL Jamal Palmer, DL Walter Thomas and veteran CB Michael Green.
