
Coastal Bend breezes by Roadrunners

ROBSTOWN, TEXAS ---- The Coastal Bend Thunder defeated the Edinburg Roadrunners 15-1 Monday night at Fairgrounds Field. The loss is the third straight for Edinburg after winning 12 in a row.
The Roadrunners (36-30) got on the board against Thunder starter J.J. Trujillo (4-2) in the first with an RBI bases loaded walk to Bryon Smith that allowed Wilmer Pino to score giving Edinburg the early 1-0 lead.
The Thunder (30-35) responded with five runs in the first, one run in the second and third, and three runs in the fourth and fifth innings giving them the 13-1 advantage. Coastal Bend added two more runs in the bottom of the seventh against Brian Martin to make it a 15-1 game.
Trujillo scattered nine hits in his seven innings of work allowing just one run against Edinburg.
The Roadrunners' pitching staff allowed 15 runs on 17 hits with Pedro Flores (4-4) picking up the loss after pitching four innings.
Edinburg and Coastal Bend will play the third game of this four-game series Tuesday night at Fairgrounds Field with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Tim Haines (7-4) is expected to pitch for the Roadrunners.
