Broncos struggles continue against WhiteWings

August 17, 2009-Laredo, TX-The Laredo Broncos losing streak reached 12 games, as the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings defeated them by a score of 4-1 at Veterans Field, on Monday.
The game was scoreless till the top of the fourth. Brian Nichols led off with a triple, and then scored on a single by Juan Melo. Later in the inning, Melo scored on a single by Sandy DeLeon. That gave Rio Grande Valley the 2-0 lead.
The WhiteWings added on to their lead in the fifth. Brian Nichols hit an rbi double that scored Joaquin Rodriguez. That mad the score 3-0.
The Broncos had their best scoring chance in the seventh. Argelis Nunez and Luany Sanchez hit back to back singles to start the inning. However, WhiteWings' starter Reymond Cruz pitched out of the jam, to keep it a three run game.
Broncos' starter Aaron Jenkins was in line for the loss after his seven innings of work. He gave up three runs, on seven hits, walked five, and struck out three. Carlos Alvarez came in to pitch the eighth.
The WhiteWings extended their lead in the eighth. Welinson Baez hit an rbi double that scored Juan Melo. The score was now 4-0.
The Broncos finally got on the scoreboard in their half of the eighth. Ryan Flynn led off with a solo home run, his first of the season. It was also Flynn's first home run as a professional baseball player. Laredo now trailed 4-1.
Carlos Alvarez pitched a scoreless ninth, as we headed to the bottom half with the Broncos trailing by three.
Jose Fragoso came into the game looking to close it out. The Broncos did no damage in the inning, as they lost by a score of 4-1.
The Broncos scored 1 runs on 6 hits and had 1 error while the WhiteWings scored 4 runs on 10 hits and had 0 errors.
