Coaching staff returns to Als

Montreal, February 1st, 2005 - Montreal Alouettes General Manager Jim Popp and Head Coach Don Matthews announced today that the team's coaching staff will remain almost totally intact for 2005 with five of six coaches confirming their return to the organization.

Offensive coordinators Doug Berry and Kevin Strasser, defensive coordinator Chris Jones, offensive line coach Steve McAdoo and special teams and defensive backs coach Noel Thorpe will be back in their respective positions in 2005. Only Daryl Edralin, who had family commitments, will not return. The Alouettes would like to thank Daryl for his service and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours.

Pair of new Canadian coaches The Alouettes also announced they have hired two new assistant coaches. Cory McDiarmid and Andrew Garven will be joining the coaching staff.

A special teams guru, McDiarmid has four years of experience in the CFL with the B.C. Lions (2000-01), the Toronto Argonauts (2002) and the Calgary Stampeders (2003). Born in Nanaimo, B.C., McDiarmid was raised in Red Deer, Alberta.

As for Garven, he spent the last two seasons working with the Alouettes' football operations department. A graduate of McGill University, Garven played four seasons with the Redmen. He was born in Oakville, Ontario.
