Toronto Argonauts News Release
Toronto â The Toronto Argonauts Football Club has put the finishing touches on its amazing coaching staff. Offensive Line Coach Ken Miller is returning for his second season with the Argonauts, Thomas Menas will join the team as its Defensive Line Coach and Perry Marchese will join the team as Offensive Assistant.
A veteran coach, Ken Miller joined the Toronto Argonauts in July 2002. Miller spent the better part of four decades in various coaching capacities at the University of Redlands in southern California. During his tenure with the team, including three years as head coach, Redlands won 14 conference championships. A man of many talents, Miller also was the head baseball coach at Redlands and taught high school biology.
Remarked Miller, "I am eager to return to the Argos coaching staff and continue working with the industrious and dedicated Argos offensive line. I am thrilled to rejoin General Manager Adam Rita, Head Coach Michael Clemons, Defensive Coordinator Rich Stubler, additional coaching staff members, management personnel, and other members of the Argonauts family. Go Argos!"
A graduate of Kansas State University, Thomas Menas played for the Detroit Lions and the USFL's San Antonio Gunslingers before retiring from professional football. This is Menas' first venture into the CFL after serving on the coaching staff of the Arena Football League's Detroit Fury, helping propel them to the playoffs in their inaugural season. Menas now resides in Washington, Michigan, where he is very active in charitable causes including the Special Olympics.
A four-year starter at Quarterback, Perry Marchese graduated from St. Mary's University in Halifax with an MBA. Marchese went on to coach in the Ontario Varsity Football League for seven years, followed by a coaching stint with Team Ontario where the team became National Champions in each of the two years he was there. Last season, Marchese helped the Argos' coaching staff on offense and is now a permanent member of the coaching staff.
Toronto Argonauts Head Coach Michael "Pinball" Clemons commented, "We are thrilled to welcome Ken Miller back to the offensive line for the 2nd year. Having coached for over 40 years, his experience, wisdom and patience make him the perfect complement to Kent Austin, our young, talented offensive coordinator. We are also happy to welcome our final two assistant coaches, Tom Menas and Perry Marchese, whose commitment to excellence rounds out a coaching staff that is determined to bring the Grey Cup back to Toronto."
The Toronto Argonauts are North America's oldest professional football club, having celebrated their 130th anniversary in 2003. The Toronto Argonauts have 14 Grey Cup championships to their credit.
