Coach Of The Year Award Finalists Announced

FRESNO, CA - James Patrick (Clovis), Judy Shaubach (Madera), and Jim Sirimarco (McLane) have been named as finalists for the Fresno Grizzlies Coach of the Year Award, the organization announced on Wednesday. The honor, along with four other awards, will be handed out at the 48th Annual Hot Stove Banquet on Thursday, February 5th at the Holiday Inn Downtown Fresno.

JAMES PATRICK, Clovis High School: Patrick earned his 500th career win during the 2008 season, his 21st at the helm for Clovis High School. He led the Cougars to a 24-8 record and a spot in the Division 1 championship game, and has seven section titles in his career.

JUDY SHAUBACH, Madera High School: In her 20th season at Madera, Shaubach led the Coyotes to a 31-4-1 record and a No. 20 ranking in the final state poll. Though they were upset in the Division 1 title game, the squad went 10-0 in the TRAC, the league's first unbeaten season in over a decade.

JIM SIRIMARCO, McLane High School: A baseball coach at McLane for the last 36 years, Sirimarco led the Highlanders to a 22-10 record in 2008, their first Central Section baseball title in 35 years, and the school's first section championship in any sport since 1983.

Winners of the Team of the Year Award (Thursday) and the Al Radka Award (Friday) will be announced later this week.

The Fresno Grizzlies Hot Stove Banquet will be held on Thursday, February 5th at the Holiday Inn Downtown Fresno. Tickets for the event benefiting the Fresno Grizzlies Community Fund are $60 for adults, $15 for children, and $550 to reserve a table of ten.
