Clutch Hitting Rallies Wings Past Aces

ALEXANDRIA, Louisiana- Starting second basemen Thomas Shull stepped up once again with a clutch two RBI double to right center to give the RGV WhiteWings (2-3) a 9-4 win over the Alexandria Aces (1-4) Tuesday night at Bringhurst Field.

Troy Zawadzki led off the fifth inning with a leadoff walk, Albert Carpen then laid down yet another perfect bunt and reaching first on the infield single. Thomas Shull later brought in Zawadski on the fielder's choice.

Aaron Gates belted a two run home run in the seventh inning giving RGV a 4-0 lead.

Ace's catcher Ryan Gasporra led off the top of the seventh inning with a double to right center, sparking a four run rally as the Aces tied the game at 4 runs even.

RGV's Thomas Shull came to the plate with one out, with Johnny Bowden on second and Michael Garcia at first, Shull delivered another clutch performance banging a double into the right center field ally scoring Bowden and Garcia. The Wings took the lead 6-4 and added insurance in the ninth inning, scoring three more runs to capture the 9-4 win over the Alexandria Aces.

Game two of this four game series is set for tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. as RGV sends lefty Antony Bello to the mound.
