Klipp Dominates Colts

SAN ANGELO, Texas - starting pitcher Justin Klipp threw a complete game striking out 14 hitters in route to a 4-1 victory over the San Angelo Colts on Tuesday night at Foster Field.

The teams went scoreless for the first 4 innings until the fifth when left fielder Daiki Komori hit his first homerun of the season to give the Roadrunners a 1-0 lead.

The Colts (3-2) responded with a run of their own when Oscar Garcia hit a double to ignite the rally, but it was Danny Hernandez who drove in Garcia that tied the game at one.

Klipp (1-1) held the Colts scoreless through the rest of the game, while the Roadrunners' offense came to life in the ladder innings.

Edinburg (1-4) regained the lead at 2-1 in the sixth courtesy of a Chris Christopoulos RBI single, and went ahead 4-1 in the eighth inning on another Christopoulos RBI single, and also scored in the inning.

Colts reliever Corey Frerichs (1-1) took the loss, allowing Edinburg's first two runs on as many hits in 3 1/3 innings.

The Roadrunners will continue their four game series against the San Angelo Colts on Wednesday night at Foster Field with the first pitch set for 7:05 pm. It will be a battle of southpaws as Drew Coffey (0-1; 9.00 ERA) of Edinburg will face Adam Rowe (1-0; 0.00 ERA) of San Angelo.

Roadrunners home opener is on Saturday, June 1st at 7:05 pm where it will be McAllen Family Urgent Care Schedule Magnet Night as they host the Fort Worth Cats at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
