Offense Helps Roadrunners Over Colts

SAN ANGELO, Texas - The Edinburg Roadrunners (2-4) jumped out to an early lead on the San Angelo Colts (3-3) and captured a 12-6 victory on Wednesday at Foster Field.

An RBI single by Chris Christopolous, and a two-run single by Tyler Diaz in the first inning got the offense going for the Roadrunners. A three-run home run by Bobby Rinard and a solo home run by Bunyu Maeda during the second inning helped the Roadrunners put some runs on the board early.

Maeda racked up four RBIs on three hits for the Edinburg Roadrunners.

Kasuma Isabachi threw for two scoreless innings allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three in relief.

Oscar Garcia of the Colts went 3-for-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the fourth and seventh innings and doubled in the ninth innings.

Drew Coffey (1-1) recorded his first win of the year for the Roadrunners. He allowed two runs over five innings. He struck out seven, walked one and surrendered seven hits.

Frank James (0-1) was charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in three innings, walked none and struck out one.

The teams will play the third game of the four game series on Thursday night as the Colts will send right hander Alex Bates (0-0; 0.00 ERA) while the Roadrunners will counter with right-hander Kyle Wilson (0-0; 7.20 ERA).

Roadrunners home opener is on Saturday, June 1st at 7:05 pm where it will be McAllen Family Urgent Care Schedule Magnet Night as they host the Fort Worth Cats at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
