Rockford IceHogs News Release
Rockford, Ill.- A dominate month of February was capped off Tuesday for the Rockford IceHogs by the United Hockey League as goaltender Frederic Cloutier was named the league's Southern Sports Supply Goalie of the Month for the month of February. Cloutier becomes the third IceHogs puck-stopper in club-history to win the monthly award.
For the month, Cloutier compiled a record of 11-0-1 with a goals against average of 1.83 and a save percentage of .930. After allowing eight goals in the first two games in February, the St. Honore, Quebec native gave up just 14 tallies in the final 10 games of the month.
In nine of 12 games played in February, Cloutier allowed two goals or less. The IceHogs backstop was also awarded the UHL's Southern Sports Supply Goalie of the Week twice, claiming the honor for his play during Weeks 18 and 20.
Since the New Year, Cloutier has a record of 19-1-3 and has helped lead the IceHogs back into contention for the top overall spot in the UHL. Cloutier is currently the third ranked goalie in the UHL and has an overall record of 31-12-3. The goalies' 31 wins are two shy of the team single season record.
Cloutier joins former IceHogs goalies Michel Robinson (January 2005 and February 2006) and Ronnie Vogel (October 2003) as the only goaltenders to win the UHL's Goalie of the Month award.
Next Home Game: Friday, March 16 vs. Kalamazoo Wings. Game time is 7:30 p.m. Rockford returns home from a five-game road swing right in the middle of the playoff push. The first 1,000 fans to the game will receive a special edition St. Patrick's Day IceHogs Stadium Cup from Bud Light and BOB FM.
