March 6, 2007 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Kalamazoo Wings News Release

Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the United Hockey League and 2005-06 Central Division, Tarry Cup and Colonial Cup champions, announce that goaltender Ryan Nie has been selected as the UHL's Easton Rookie of the Month for February.

Nie was riveting in February, appearing in 10 games and earning a record of 4-2-2 with a minuscule goals against average of 1.58 save percentage 0.944 save percentage.

Amazingly, all four victories for Nie came via shutouts, including three straight from February 14th-17th. Nie's efforts reestablished the UHL's team record for consecutive minutes for not allowing a goal (214:00).

The Easton Rookie of the Month Award is the first earned by Nie and the fourth in team history. Nie joins former K-Wings' Jason Deitsch, who won the award twice (February and April) last season and goaltender Joel Martin, who received the award in November 2005.

Kalamazoo will begin a three-game week tomorrow (3/7) with a 7:00 p.m. face-off against the Muskegon Fury on Merchant Night. The K-Wings will also be home this Friday (3/9) for a 7:30 p.m. battle against the Bloomington PrairieThunder on Pepsi Night presented by WIN 98.5 FM. On Saturday (3/10), Kalamazoo will conclude a three-game homestand against the Rockford IceHogs during a 7:30 p.m. clash on List Your Home with Doug Reeves of Re-Max Advantage Night.

Tickets for this week's contests and all K-Wings' home games are available at the Wings Stadium Ticket Office during their regular business hours of Monday-Friday 10 a.m.-6 p.m. or Saturday 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Fans can purchase their tickets by calling the (269) 345-5101 or logging onto www.ticketmaster.com.
