Huntington Park Construction Update
Some of the Clippers front office employees were taken on a tour of the Huntington Park construction site for the first time yesterday afternoon. Initial feelings? "This place is going to be an absolute gem for the city of Columbus," Assistant General Manager Mark Warren said. "I'm certainly amazed at how fast everything is coming along. These are very exciting times for our franchise." During the tour, Turner Construction allowed the front office employees to sneak a peek at the suite level view looking down onto the field and up towards the Columbus skyline. At first sight of the view, there were a few seconds of collective silence, and then a couple excited chuckles. Evidence of the overwhelming approval from the front office. "This is incredible," said Director of Marketing Mark Galuska. "I can't imagine a bad view anywhere in this ballpark!" The Clippers' new home starting in 2009 will be located in the Arena District at the corner of Neil Avenue and Nationwide Boulevard.
