Braves Slip Past Tides

Norfolk, VA- The Richmond Braves beat the Norfolk Tides 2-1 Thursday at Harbor Park. Jo-Jo Reyes pitched seven strong innings and Josh Anderson scored both of Richmond's runs as the Braves earned their fifth one-run win of the season.

The Braves snapped a scoreless tie in the sixth. Anderson doubled and eventually came home on a sacrifice fly by Brandon Jones. The Tides tied the game in the seventh on an RBI double by Chris Roberson. The Braves moved in front to stay in the eighth when Anderson scored on a Jones ground out.

Braves starter Jo-Jo Reyes picked up the win. He threw seven innings, striking out six with one walk and one earned run, the first run he has allowed this season in 21 innings. Alberto Castillo took the loss while Jeff Ridgway earned his first save of the season. For Norfolk, Radhames Liz pitched seven innings, striking out ten with two walks and one earned run. Anderson and Sal Fasano had two hits for Richmond while Roberson had three hits for Norfolk.

The Braves and Tides continue their five game home and home series Friday at The Diamond at 7 PM. Mike Hampton, down from Atlanta on a rehab assignment is scheduled to pitch for the Braves against Hayden Penn.
