Claws Top Blue Rocks 7-3 and Set Team Record with Ninth Straight Win

JERSEY SHORE, NJ - For the first time in 24 years, the BlueClaws have won nine games in a row! Jersey Shore topped Wilmington 7-3 on Friday for their ninth straight win. Every BlueClaw starter had a hit including two by Justin Crawford and Cade Fergus in the win.

The BlueClaws had won eight in a row in both 2016 and 2017, but this is the first nine game win streak in franchise history. They are now 18-13 on the year while Wilmington falls to 15-14.

Wilmington jumped out to a 3-0 lead five batters into the game on two different BlueClaws errors. The BlueClaws responded with two runs in the bottom of the first. Emaaarion Boyd, who singled to start the inning, scored on a Leandro Pineda groundout, and Justin Crawford, who also singled, scored on an RBI single from Felix Reyes.

Jersey Shore came back to take the lead in the bottom of the third inning on a SAC fly from Pineda and an RBI single by Erick Brito. The BlueClaws added three more in the fourth. A Justin Crawford SAC fly and RBI double from Otto Kemp made it 6-3. Leandro Pineda then reached on an error that brought home Emaarion Boyd and gave the BlueClaws a 7-3 lead.

BlueClaws starter Eiberson Castellano (1-1) gave up three runs, one earned in five innings and earned his first win of the season. Andrew Baker came on next and threw a 1-2-3 inning with two strikeouts. Benony Robles threw a scoreless seventh inning.

Gunner Mayer came on in the eighth and got the last six outs, five via strikeout, to close the door.

Boyd and Crawford each scored two runs in the win.

The teams continue their series on Saturday at 4:05 pm. LHP Braeden Fausnaught starts for Jersey Shore.
