Clarkson and McGrath each pick up hat tricks

Kitchener, ON: The Rangers used hat tricks by David Clarkson and Evan McGrath tonight to defeat the visiting Plymouth Whalers by a score of 6-3 at The Aud.

Evan McGrath scored the only goal of the first period when he beat Ryan Nie for his third on the season at 14:08.

In the second period Jonas Fiedler tied the game at 1-1 just 1:33 into the period. David Clarkson responded at 12:38 while on the power play to give the Rangers the lead 2-1. Clarkson then added his second of the game and fourth on the season at 17:16 to make it a 3-1 game after forty minutes.

In the third period the Whalers pulled to within one before Clarkson added his third of the game at 10:49 to put the Rangers up 5-3. McGrath added his third of the game into the empty net at 17:51 to put the game out of reach.

Eric Pfligler earned the win stopping 30 shots to even his record at 1-1-1 on the season.

The Rangers next home game is Monday, October 11th vs the Guelph Storm. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at The Aud. The Rangers travel to Plymouth on Saturday to face the Whalers at 7:30 p.m.
