Mississauga St. Michael's Majors News Release


TORONTO, ON – The Toronto St. Michael's Majors are excited to announce a new promotion that will enable fans to voice their opinions in terms of player performance. Through the Scotiabank Player of the Month contest, fans will be able to vote for the player that they felt performed above all others during the recently-completed month. Balloting for the September Player of the Month has now begun!

Voting will take place online and during specific home games. In terms of the online component, fans should direct themselves to the Fan Feedback poll, provided on the www.stmichaelsmajors.com home page. They are given three opportunities each month to nominate a Majors player that they feel is deserving of the award. September's voting will run from midnight this evening (Friday, October 8th) to midnight on Wednesday, October 13th.

Fans can also pick up a ballot at the 50/50 table located in the St. Michael 's College School Arena lobby during the Majors home game on Sunday (October 10th) afternoon, at 2:00 pm, versus the Sudbury Wolves. The nominations will be tabulated on Thursday morning and the winner will be announced during an on-ice ceremony prior to next Sunday (October 17th) afternoon's game versus the Kitchener Rangers. Scotiabank will be presenting the winner with a $250 bank account. Also, at that time, fans will be able to obtain a limited edition, 8.5" x 11" player card, which features an action shot of the winner, in the program. The winner will then be available in the Molson lounge after the game, to autograph his player card for fans. The contest will run at the beginning of each month for the entire 2004-05 season.

As was mentioned above, the Majors play host to Sudbury on Sunday afternoon. Then, they will travel to Brampton to face the Battalion on Thanksgiving Monday, at 2:00 pm, before welcoming the Mississauga IceDogs on Thursday evening, October 14th, at 7:30 pm. Both Majors home games will be available on Rogers television in the Toronto region, channel 10. Majors tickets can be purchased via all of the usual outlets: through the Majors' office; at the St. Michael's College School Arena box office within two hours of the puck drop; by calling Ticketmaster at (416) 872-5000; or, online at www.ticketmaster.ca.
