Mississauga St. Michael's Majors News Release
TORONTO, ON â The Toronto St. Michael's Majors couldn't find their scoring touch this evening and were defeated 1-0 by the visiting Belleville Bulls. The difference proved to be rookie Bulls netminder Kevin Lalande, who stopped all 30 shots he faced in his first start of the season.
The game's lone goal came off the stick of Belleville's Matt Beleskey, on the power-play, at 14:37 of the 1st period. The assists were given to Matt Kelly and David Edgeworth. The Majors were never able to counter, despite outshooting the Bulls 30-18.
Only eight penalties were called on the night with Toronto going 0 for 4 on the man-advantage and Belleville 1 for 4. Justin Peters got the start in net for the Majors. The game's three stars were Lalande (1st), the Majors Scott Lehman (2nd) and Beleskey (3rd).
The Majors record now sits at 2-1-2-1 and their next home game will be this Sunday afternoon (October 10th) at 2:00 pm, when they host the Sudbury Wolves. Then, they will travel to Brampton to face the Battalion on Thanksgiving Monday, at 2:00 pm, before welcoming the Mississauga IceDogs on Thursday evening, October 14th, at 7:30 pm. Both Majors home games will be available on Rogers television in the Toronto region, channel 10.
