
Clarke, Jackson earn SPHL honors

[FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.] - The Fayetteville FireAntz of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) yesterday, had two players recognized by the coaches and writers of the SPHL. Defenseman Mike Clarke and forward Dean Jackson were both named to All-SPHL teams.
Clarke, a native of Toronto, Ontario, was named to the First-Team All-SPHL. The defenseman tallied nine goals and 58 assists. His 67 points ranked him second on the club and ninth in the SPHL. Clarke also was a +22 for the season. He was also named Sherwood Player of the Week, in the SPHL, for the week of November 21st-27th.
Jackson, who also hails from Toronto, Ontario, was named to the Second-Team All-SPHL. The left-winger netted a team-high 76 points on 32 goals and 44 assists. He was tied for 5th in the SPHL in scoring with Jason Bermingham of the Knoxville Ice Bears. Jackson was also the inaugural SPHL Player of the Month from October 21st through November 26th.
The FireAntz quest for the President's Cup begins this Friday as the FireAntz travel to Florida to take on the Seals. Their first home game of the 2005-06 playoffs is Saturday, March 25th at 7:35pm.
