
Clark Cup Title Defense Begins Saturday

GENEVA, ILLINOIS - The Chicago Steel, the winningest team in the USHL since 2014-2015 and top producer of NHL Draft picks of any independent junior team each of the past two years, will begin defense of the team's 2021 Clark Cup title starting on the road with Game 1 of the best-of-three Eastern Conference Semifinals on Saturday, April 30 before returning home on Monday, May 2 and Tuesday, May 3 for Games 2 and 3 (if necessary).
After wrapping up the top seed in the East for the second consecutive season, the Steel hit the road for Game 1 Saturday in a 1-2 format against the winner of the #4 Youngstown Phantoms vs. #5 Madison Capitols best-of-three First Round series which begins tonight with all games in Youngstown.
Chicago will return to Fox Valley Ice Arena for Game 2 on Monday, May 2 at 7:05 pm CT and Game 3, if necessary, on Tuesday, May 3 at 7:05 pm CT.
Below is the practice schedule for later this week with media access available either before or after the players take the ice:

This season, the Steel are led by four players previously selected in the NHL Draft: Joe Miller (Toronto Maple Leafs), Jackson Blake (Carolina Hurricanes), Cal Thomas (Arizona Coyotes) and Sam Lipkin (Arizona Coyotes).
Multiple 2022 NHL Draft prospects comprise the current roster including Jake Livanavage, Nick Moldenhauer, Hunter McDonald, Jack Harvey, Lukas Gustafsson, Andon Cerbone, Zam Plante and Gibson Homer.
Forwards Adam Fantilli and Jayden Perron are projected first-round picks in the 2023 NHL Draft, with Fantilli currently projected as a top three pick.
