Louisville City FC News Release
Louisville, KY - For the second time in as many games Louisville City FC (4-1-3, 15 points) busted out of the gate and put three in the back of the net before the first half whistle. Led by a Matt Fondy brace, Lou City stayed undefeated at home with a 4-0 win over Toronto FC II (2-5-1, 7 points)
It took Louisville just six minutes to get on the board and continue their 5-match streak of scoring first at home. Matt Fondy played a brilliant ball to Kadeem Dacres who placed it just out of the reach of Toronto FC goalkeeper, Alex Bono. It was Dacres second goal of the season and Matt Fondy's second assist.
Nine minutes later, Fondy got a goal of his own. Right back, Bryan Burke got into open space on the right side all through the first half, and in the 15th minute he took it the byline to set up Matt Fondy's second goal of the season. The duo connected for the second time this season as Fondy drilled it into the net to double the hosts' advantage.
Already up 2-0, Louisville City FC kept pressing and in the 35th minute Dacres served one up to Conor Shanosky. The center back sent his header into the back of the net for Louisville City FC's third goal, giving him goals in back-to-back matches.
City did not let up in the second half and were able to add a fourth and final goal in the 56th minute. Magnus Rasmussen took the ball up the field, and sent in a through ball to Fondy who blasted it on target. The keeper got in front of it, but couldn't do enough to keep the ball out and Louisville City FC had their biggest lead in franchise history at 4-0.
Dacres nearly capitalized on a Toronto mistake, looking for a fifth goal. Off a turnover, Dacres tried one from nearly 35-yards out and Bono made an incredible diving save.
Scott Goodwin wasn't challenged often as Toronto only took seven shots, but the keeper posted his fourth clean sheet of the season. Goodwin and Louisville City FC have only allowed one goal over five home matches.
City will play in their first ever U.S. Open Cup match on Wednesday at Lansing United. Following the trip to Michigan, Louisville will return to USL play on the road at Saint Louis FC in the second edition of the Kings Cup.
Louisville City FC will return to Slugger Field on Saturday, May 30th for a rematch with Saint Louis FC. Fans can purchase tickets by visiting http://louisvillecityfc.com/tickets.
