LA Galaxy II News Release
CARSON, Calif. (Sunday, May 17, 2015) - LA Galaxy II (4-4-1, 13 points) fell to Sacramento Republic FC, 1-0 Sunday afternoon at StubHub Center's Track & Field Stadium behind a goal from Sacramento's Rodrigo Lopez.
The first half featured chances for both sides, with forward Ariel Lassiter coming the closest to giving the Galaxy the lead in the opening period, but the game remained scoreless at halftime.
20 minutes in to the second half, Sacramento opened up the scoring behind a goal from Rodrigo Lopez, the leading goal scorer in USL. Sacramento midfielder Gilberto sent a cross in to Lopez, who was just in front of goal. The striker controlled the ball before slotting it in to the far post past goalkeeper Clement Diop.
Despite late offensive pressure from Los Dos, they were unable to find an equalizer as their four-game winning streak came to an end.
LA Galaxy II will now face the Ventura County Fusion on Wednesday, May 20th in a Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup second-round match at StubHub Center's Track & Field Stadium at 7:30 p.m. PT.
