Spruce Grove. Local residents will have a unique way to celebrate Father's Day this year as the City hosts an afternoon with the Edmonton Eskimos on Sunday, June 17.
The football club will be coming to Fuhr Sports Park for a practice session and members of the public are invited to come out and watch the action.
"We are very excited to have the Edmonton Eskimos practice at one of our great facilities," said Spruce Grove Mayor Stuart Houston. "It will be a great afternoon of football and a fun way for families to spend the day."
"One of the core values of our club is accessibility," added Edmonton Eskimo President and CEO Len Rhodes. "Taking the Esks to Spruce Grove for a training camp session is a great way for our fans to get closer to their team."
The Eskimos are scheduled to arrive at Fuhr Sports Park at noon for practice preparation and warm-up. The practice will run from 1 to 3 p.m. and will include drills focusing on the passing game and run game, as well as offensive and defensive plays and formations.
Spectators are encouraged to bring cameras to take photos of the action. There will also be on-site contests and prizes. Following the practice, players will be available to meet fans and sign autographs.
"I would encourage everyone to take this opportunity to watch a high-calibre football team in an up close and personal setting," said Houston. "This will truly be a unique experience for our residents and I would like to thank the Eskimos for coming out to practice in Spruce Grove."
