Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE...: The Cyclones will practice from 2:30-4pm on Thursday (tomorrow). See below for information on Friday.
BETCHA ON THIS ONE...: The mayors of Cincinnati and Las Vegas are currently evaluating their wager on the upcoming Kelly Cup Finals between the Cyclones and Wranglers. While the final wager has not been set, the most tempting option for wager is to have the mayor from the losing city have to wear the jersey of the winning city to the next round of governmental meetings in their town.
FOUNTAIN SQUARE PARTY: There will be a Cyclones Pep Rally Celebration on Fountain Square from 5pm-6:30 on Thursday night. The pep rally for the team will feature the coaches, staff and players of the Cyclones hockey club. This is an excellent photo opportunity of players interacting with fans.
FINAL PRESS CONFERENCE: There will be a press conference at U.S. Bank Arena on the fifth floor on Friday (May 23) at noon. This will take place in the restaurant. Head Coach Chuck Weber and selected players will be available. The media is invited to watch and shoot video of the morning skate at 11am. The Kelly Cup trophy will also be on display in the SuperSuite, also on the fifth floor of U.S. Bank Arena (photo opportunity for the Cup only--coaches and players will NOT be available for photography with the trophy).
PRESS PASSES: Media requiring credentials for games one and two (Saturday and Sunday) at U.S. Bank Arena are encouraged to contact John Hamel (513-421-7825, x. 139) prior to Friday to secure these. Limited seating is available for these games.
IN THE COMMUNITY: The Cincinnati Cyclones contributed more than $82,000 in goods, materials and merchandise to the Greater Cincinnati community this season. More than 2100 tickets, 500 autographed items and 300 man-hours were committed to the cause. The team collected more than 500 stuffed animals from the annual âTeddy Bear Toss' and five sets of jerseys were auctioned off for more than $23,000.
NOTEWORTHY: The Cyclones and Las Vegas Wranglers are meeting for the first time ever.....The Cyclones have won 67 games between the regular season and playoffs, second-most ever in ECHL history--the 2005-06 Alaska Aces set the record with 69 triumphs.....This is the third time in league history that the teams winning the respective conference regular season championship, captured the playoff title and advanced to the Finals.....For the first time in ECHL history two winners of the league's âCoach of the Year' honors will square off. Chuck Weber won the award with Cincinnati this season and Glen Gulutzan, the coach of Las Vegas, won the award in 2005-06......Las Vegas is riding a nine-game postseason winning streak.
