Chukars Bombard Owlz at Plate in 20-5 Win

OREM - For the second straight game, the Owlz could not contain the Chukars at plate, losing 20-5 to Idaho Falls.
After a stalemate through the first inning, the Chukars went on scoring frenzy. Idaho Falls grabbed six runs in the top of the second. The six-run inning featured a three-run homer from Tyler James.
Griffin Barnes hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the second scoring Mitch Spires and bringing the score to 6-2. This was the first home run of Barnes' career.
Idaho Falls rattled off another four runs in the top of the third. Hunter Strong hit a two-run homer to left field. Then, Jesus Atencio scored from a Kyle Kasser single. Kasser also scored from an Offerman Collado single to right field.
The Chukars scored two runs in the fourth and one run in the fifth to increase the lead to 13-2. Reed Rohlman scored from a fielding error and Kasser hit an RBI single in the fourth. Collado also scored off an error. Orem remained at one run through five.
Idaho Falls had a five-run inning in the top of the sixth. Two of the five runs came from a Strong two-run double.
The Owlz got their third run in the bottom of the sixth. Spires hit a sacrifice fly to right field giving D'Shawn Knowles the run. Orem trailed 18-3 after six innings.
The Chukars moved the lead up to 19-3 in the seventh from another Kasser RBI single. Orem countered by scoring two runs in the eighth. Kevin Maitan and Knowles scored from a Menendez single.
Nick Hutchins hit an RBI double in the final inning to leave the final score at 20-5.
The Owlz next home game will be on Thursday, August 9 against the Missoula Offsprey.
