MLB All-Star Matt Holliday suited up for the Grand Junction Rockies going 1-3 with a double, RBI, and walk in his 2018 debut. However, the Rox fell to the Raptors 17-5 to end the homestand. The loss puts Grand Junction in a tie with Ogden for first place in the second half with 5-3 records.

GJ starter Trent Fennell was tagged with the loss going to 0-2 on the season after pitching three innings allowing two runs on four hits with a walk and a strikeout. Ogden starter Jose Chacin moves to 6-1 pitching for six innings allowing one run on eight hits with three walks and two strikeouts

In the first, both teams plated a run. Will Golsan led off the home half with a double to center before tagging on a fly ball to move to third. Holliday then grounded out to short to score Golsan.

Ogden added a run in the second with Niko Hulsizer coming around to score after being hit with a pitch, a passed ball, and scoring on a single to right by Marco Hernandez. The Raptors maintained the lead the rest of the night including a nine-run seventh inning.

Facing a 16-1 deficit in the eighth, Holliday led off with a double before Zach Hall was brought in to pinch run. He scored on a single from Grant Lavigne. The Rox showed some fight in the home half of the ninth plating three including a two-run home run from Coco Montes but dropped the series.

Grand Junction hits the road for a four-game series in Idaho Falls before the All-Star break. The 2018 Pioneer League vs Northwest League All-Star Game will be on August 7th and held at Suplizio Field in Grand Junction.
