Wausau Woodchucks News Release
WAUSAU- Going into Friday night's game, the Wisconsin Woodchucks looked to fade away from the 5-way tie for first place in the Northwoods South division with the addition of three new players; 1st basemen Jacob Jelmini, pitcher, Max Ising, and the starting pitcher for Friday night, Pascal Paul.
The Wisconsin Woodchucks were melting under the heat of Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 94 mph Pitcher, Ben Heller until the bottom of the 4th inning where back-to-back doubles, by catcher Gage Green, and 3rd basemen, Brendon Hayden, put the first runs of the night on the board.
The "ËChucks cooled off even more after Chevas Numata singled to bring around 3rd basemen Brendon Hayden to suddenly make it a two run game in the 4th inning.
On the defensive side, "ËChucks new comer, pitcher, Pascal Paul, threw five scoreless innings, giving up only four hits in his Woodchucks debut.
The Rafters finally broke open in the 6th inning coming in to score on a pass ball by pitcher, Pascal Paul. The Woodchucks did strand two Rafters on the bases however, to end the inning.
Woodchuck's reliever, Mason Pingel came into play in the 7th inning allowing a solo bomb to open the 8th inning, to left-centerfield to tie the game at two, by Rafters left fielder Austin Neary. Neary also went 4 for 4 on the night.
In the bottom of the 9th, the "ËChucks lead off with a single by Brendon Hayden to put the go-ahead run on the bases. After a Brian Smith strike out, new comer, Jacob Jelmini came to the plate and showed the crowd another great night. Jelmini hit a deep fly ball to center field to score another walk off hit against the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters.
This is the third walk-off win for the "ËChucks this week as they pick up another win to move themselves up in the Northwoods South.
