Wausau Woodchucks News Release
LA CROSSE - The Wisconsin Woodchucks dropped their fifth consecutive game as they ran into a red-hot La Crosse Loggers team, losing 6-1.
Garret Yrigoyen of the Woodchucks struggled early against the Loggers, and they made him pay as Jimmy Bosco hit a three-run home run to put the Loggers up 3-0. Yrigoyen settled down substantially after that, though, as he retired the next ten batters. Yrigoyen left after the fourth inning due to a nagging injury to his thumb, allowing four runs on four hits and only one walk.
Woodchuck manager Guido Aspeitia was ejected in the third while arguing with home plate umpire Carson Boyd when Robbie De La Cruz thought that he had been hit by a pitch on the arm. The âChucks seemed ignited by the ejection, though as they scored their first run of the game on an RBI-single by Seth Batty.
The Loggers tacked on runs in the fifth and sixth innings off of reliever Justin Burns to make the score 6-1, and that would be enough to put down the âChucks for the first game of a two-game series.
The âChucks fell to 11-18 on the season while the Loggers won their sixth straight game, advancing to 6-1. The two teams will play again tomorrow night in La Crosse at 5:05.
