Abbotsford Heat News Release
The Flames extended their winning streak to four games with a 2-1 overtime win on Sunday in Milwaukee. Kris Chucko netted the game-winning tally as Quad City equaled a franchise record for longest winning streak. Chucko has goals in each of the last three Flames games. Brad Cole also scored in the win.
The Flames captured a 1-0 lead after one period. Brad Cole dumped the puck into the Milwaukee zone. Admirals forward Jed Ortmeyer recovered the puck while under pressure from the Flames forecheck. In an effort to clear the puck, Ortmeyer inadvertently shot the biscuit into his own net to stake the Flames to a 1-0 lead. Cole received credit for the goal, his second of the season.
The teams skated scoreless through the second period as Quad City's Leland Irving turned aside 10 shots while Milwaukee's Mark Dekanich stopped all three shots he faced. The three shots on goal tied a Flames franchise record for the fewest shots in a single period.
Mike Santorelli scored his 16th goal of the year to tie the game at 6:59 of the third period. Santorelli picked off a no-look pass by Ryan Wilson and skated past Brett Palin before beating Irving to knot the score. The teams remained tied through the remainder of regulation.
At 1:55 of the extra session, Admirals defenseman Tim Ramholt was whistled off for tripping. Kris Chucko scored on a blast from the left wing shot during the ensuing power play to secure the win for Quad City. Anders Eriksson and Jamie Lundmark assisted on the goal, the 20th tally of the year for Chucko.
The Flames visit Bleacher Bums on Monday night at 6:00 p.m. for another edition of The Budweiser Flames Forum. Scott Allen, Cam Cunning, Kris Chucko and Aki Seitsonen will join host Aaron Roof. Fans in attendance will be eligible to win prizes from the Flames and Budweiser. The show can also be heard on 93.9 FM WYEC.
The Flames are home this week on Wednesday vs. Lake Erie and Friday vs. San Antonio. Tickets for both games are available in the lower bowl for $10.00 or in the upper bowl for $5.00. A portion of ticket sales from both games will be donated to the Genesis Breast Health Center.
