St. Paul Saints News Release
ST. PAUL, MN - From Midway Stadium into CHS Field the St. Paul Saints and Hamline University have played their home games on the same field. The Saints continued their tradition of hosting the high school sectional and State Tournament Games when they moved to their new Lowertown ballpark in 2015. This week, however, the Saints, Hamline University and CHS Field will host the MIAC Baseball Tournament for the first time.
The six-team tournament gets started on Thursday, May 10 at 3:00 p.m. when St. Mary's takes on Macalester. That game is followed by St. Thomas vs. Gustavus. The top two teams in the conference, St. John's and Bethel, will receive a bye into the double elimination tournament. The winners of the Thursday games will be slotted into the tournament while the losers are eliminated.
On Friday, May 11 the top seeded St. John's will take on the lowest remaining seed at 3:00 p.m. followed by the number two seed Bethel playing the highest remaining seed. On Saturday, May 12 three games will take place at 12:00 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. The MIAC Championship will take place on Sunday, May 13 at 11:00 a.m. with an if necessary game to follow.
"We are thrilled to partner with the MIAC to host the 2018 Baseball Playoff," said Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Derek Sharrer. "Hosting this championship event alongside one of the premiere Division III athletic conferences in the nation fits squarely with the vision that was set forth for CHS Field as the home for amateur baseball in Minnesota. We hope students, faculty, alumni, family, friends, and fans of all of the participating schools will join us this weekend for an exciting weekend of great college baseball!"
Tickets for the MIAC tournament is $10 for adults, $6 for students with an appropriate school ID, while kids five and under are free. A ticket purchased is good for all games played on that day and can be purchased during Saints box office hours on Thursday, May 10 and Friday, May 11 beginning at 9:00 a.m. and Saturday, May 12 and Sunday, May 13 beginning at 10:00 a.m., online at saintsbaseball.com, or by calling the Saints office at 651-644-6659.
