Edmonton Aviators News Release
Edmonton â Today, the Edmonton Aviators Soccer Club sent midfielder Chris Williams back to the Montreal Impact where he was acquired from last week. The Aviators and Williams could not come to terms on a contract. As a result, Williams is no longer a member of the Edmonton Aviators Soccer Club.
"His expectations did not agree with those of the club and we were not prepared to make concessions," said Joe Petrone, Director of Soccer Operations for the Aviators. "In the end, this decision was best for all parties involved."
The trade agreement between Montreal and Edmonton was contingent on the Aviators and Williams agreeing to the terms of the contract. Since Williams did not sign a contract with the Aviators, the deal made between the Aviators and the Montreal Impact to bring Williams to Edmonton is now void.
The Aviators Men are in Calgary to face the Mustangs tonight (May 28, 6:30pm MST). They return home to play the second game in Sunday's double header with the Aviators Women (May 30, 2pm MST).
