
Chris Vandevelde Recalled by Edmonton; Darcy Hordichuk Assigned

Oklahoma City - The Edmonton Oilers, parent club of the Oklahoma City Barons, have assigned forward Darcy Hordichuk to Oklahoma City. In a separate transaction, the Oilers recalled center Chris Vandevelde.
Hordichuk, a 13-year NHL veteran, was a 6th round pick of the Atlanta Thrashers in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. The 6-1, 212-pounder from Kamsack, Saskatchewan has played in 542 NHL games with Atlanta, Phoenix, Florida, Nashville, Vancouver and Edmonton. In the last two seasons with Edmonton, Hordichuk has played 47 games, scored three points (1-2-3) and served 64 penalty minutes.
Vandevelde, a 6-2, 210-pounder from Moorhead, Minn., was the Oilers 4th round selection (97th overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. He has played in 173 games for the Barons, scoring 49 points (21-28-49). His 173 games is the most in Barons franchise history. Vandevelde has played in one game with the Oilers this season, He has appeared in 18 games with the Oilers, scoring three points (1-2-3) and serving 16 penalty minutes.
The Barons are on the road for two games this weekend against the South Division leading Texas Stars. Faceoff for the game Friday is 7:30 p.m., while faceoff Saturday is 7 p.m. Both games can be heard on the Barons flagship station, 96.1 KXY.
