Chris Thompson Loaned To Trenton Titans

BRIDGEPORT, CT - The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, have loaned forward Chris Thompson to the ECHL's Trenton Titans.

Thompson, 27, signed with the Sound Tigers this past summer, attended training camp with the team this fall and was on the road for the first three games of the regular season last week but did not dress in any of them. 6'2'' 205-pounder from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan played 440 games, including 23 in the AHL, during his seven-year professional career before signing with the Sound Tigers. Thompson's AHL experience includes parts of two seasons (2002-04) with the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks and one apiece with the Albany River Rats (1998-99) and Cleveland Barons (2001-02). He posted 19 goals, 32 assists, 51 points and a team-high 172 penalty minutes in 68 games as captain of the ECHL's Louisiana IceGators last season. Thompson has totaled 108 goals, 164 assists, 272 points and 1,492 penalty minutes in the AHL, ECHL and United Hockey League. He also played four seasons (1995-99) of major-junior hockey in the Western Hockey League.

The Sound Tigers will finish a season-opening stretch of four straight road games when they visit the Binghamton Senators this Saturday at 7:05 p.m. They will open the home portion of the schedule next Saturday and Sunday, October 22nd and 23rd when they host the Portland Pirates that Saturday at 7:05 p.m. and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins that Sunday at 4:05 p.m. at Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard.
