Bruins sign defenseman

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins, member of the American Hockey League, announced that they have signed defenseman Sean Curry to a professional tryout agreement.

Curry, 23, enters his fourth professional season. The Burnsville, Minnesota native played the past three seasons in Lowell posting 20 points (3g, 17a) and 231 PIM in 170 games. Last season, Curry had a career-high nine points (2g, 7a) in 61 games with the Lock Monsters. He is tied for fourth all-time in Lock Monster history with 170 games played and third all-time in Lock Monster history with 231 PIM. Before joining Lowell for the 2002-03 season, the defenseman played 32 games with the Florida Everblades (ECHL). Prior to turning pro, Curry skated for two seasons in the Western Hockey League (WHL) posting 46 points (15g, 31a) and 240 PIM in 132 games. He was selected by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 7th round, 211th overall, in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.

The 2005-06 season opens up at home at the Dunkin' Donuts Center on Friday, October 14th at 7:05 p.m. against the Portland Pirates.
