CHIVAS USA RETURNS HOME TO FACE DEFENDING CHAMP REAL SALT LAKE THIS SATURDAY: Chivas USA returns to The Home Depot Center to face Real Salt Lake this Saturday, May 22 at 7:30 p.m. PT. RSL, who won MLS Cup in 2009 over the LA Galaxy, are facing Chivas USA for the first time this season as the fellow 2005 expansion face off. Salt Lake currently has a 4-3-1 record, and is coming off a 3-1 home victory over the Houston Dynamo. A special edition Upper Deck player card pack will be presented to the first 5000 fans through the gates, and a Family Pack, starting at just $14 per person, is also available. BORNSTEIN AND KLJESTAN WITH UNITED STATES NATIONAL TEAM FOR WORLD CUP CAMP: Chivas USA co-captains Jonathan Bornstein and Sacha Kljestan are currently in Princeton, N.J., as part of the United States' 30-man preliminary roster for the FIFA World Cup. Head Coach Bob Bradley has assembled the group, from which he will select a squad of 23 by June 1 for the final roster that will travel to South Africa. Bornstein, of Los Alamitos, has scored two goals in his 29 appearances with the United States, and has played more for the U.S. National Team in 2010 than any other player. Sacha Kljestan, of Huntington Beach, has made 23 appearances and scored four goals for the U.S., most recently the game-winner on February 24 against El Salvador. ‘MARCH TO THE MATCH' WITH BAND OF THE GAME AND FANS STARTS AT 6:30 ON SATURDAY, MAY 22: A new tradition has come to The Home Depot Center in 2010, with Chivas USA fans, the Union Ultras supporters group, and the Band of the Game (from San Pedro High School), all gathering for the ‘March to the Match.' With everyone making noise and getting ready for the match, all fans are encouraged to join the group when it leaves from Lot 11 at 6:30 p.m. PT on Saturday, May 22, continuing this new event which will occur prior to every home match the Red-and-White play. CHIVAS USA TO HOLD ‘PRACTICE IN THE COMMUNITY' IN LAKE ELSINORE ON SUNDAY, MAY 23: Chivas USA of Major League Soccer will hold its first ‘Practice in the Community' of 2010 at Temescal Canyon High School in Lake Elsinore this Sunday, May 23 at 10:30 a.m. PT. The event, which is hosted by the Elsinore Valley Youth Soccer League, will include a practice session of Chivas USA's first-team squad, followed by an opportunity for fans to take photos, get autographs and meet players. The May 23 practice will take place at Temescal Canyon High School, located at 28755 El Toro Road in Lake Elsinore. The event, the first in series of training sessions that Chivas USA holds each month across Southern California, will give fans the unique opportunity, free of cost, to come out and watch, up close, the practice session of a professional soccer team.

‘CHIVAS AT THE PARK L.A.' CONTINUES SATURDAY, JUNE 5 AT WHITSETT IN NORTH HOLLYWOOD: Chivas USA has kicked off the popular ‘Chivas at the Park L.A.' program, and will continue the series of soccer clinics taking place in various parks throughout Los Angeles with a session on Saturday, June 5 at Whitsett Recreation Center at 680 Whitsett Ave in North Hollywood. The clinics, which offer participating boys and girls ages 5-15 the opportunity to learn soccer techniques and practice drills that highlight teamwork in an environment that promotes the importance of fitness for the entire family, cost just $5 and include 90 minutes of soccer instruction, a Chivas at the Park t-shirt, and a certificate of completion. CHIVAS USA YOUTH TEAMS SPLIT AGAINST LA GALAXY IN MINI CLÁSICO: The Chivas USA Youth Teams continue play in the Development Academy, and are currently in the league's final month of the 2009-2010 season. This past weekend, the Chivas USA teams faced the LA Galaxy in the Mini Clásico, with the U-18's earning a 3-2 win over the Galaxy, while the U-16's fell 4-0. Mario Guerrero scored twice for the Chivas USA U-18's, and Carlos Martinez added the third. The U-18's are currently in second place of the SoCal Division of the Development Academy's West Conference with an 9-6-0 record, while the U-16's are in third place with a 6-7-2 record. AYSO REFEREE NIGHT TO TAKE PLACE ON MAY 22: Chivas USA has announced that the May 22 match against Real Salt Lake will also be AYSO Referee Night at The Home Depot Center. A special ticket package, starting at just $20, includes a three hour pregame referee training clinic, a ticket to the match, a Chivas USA/AYSO Referee coin, a Chivas USA hat, and a postgame meeting with the match referees. CHIVAS DE GUADALAJARA PLAYS SECOND LEG OF COPA LIBERTADORES QUARTERFINAL TOMORROW: After the team's season ended in the Mexican First Division playoffs, Chivas de Guadalajara takes a 3-0 lead into the second leg of its Copa Libertadores quarterfinal matchup at Libertad of Paraguay tomorrow. Chivas is looking for a spot in the semifinal against either Flamengo of Brazil, or Universidad de Chile. Also, Chivas forward Alberto Medina scored Mexico's only goal in a 1-0 victory over Chile in a preparation match for the FIFA World Cup, starting soon in South Africa.
