Chicago Fire Soccer Club In The Community Update

CHICAGO, IL (May 17, 2009) - The Chicago Fire is participating in a series of community events across the Chicagoland area this week. Throughout the year, the Fire participate in hundreds of community events to work with youth, charities and other organizations to promote the game of soccer by advocating wellness, healthy lifestyle choices, physical activities and education.

This week's events feature Fire midfielder Baggio Husidic at Edgewood Middle School for Fire Soccer Discovery Day. Chicago Fire players, mascot Sparky, and players from Paris Saint-Germain, Legia Warsaw and Red Star Belgrade will participate in the Chicago Sister Cities Community Soccer Clinic at Lincoln Park Turf Field on Thursday, May 20.

In addition, Sparky will appear in this year's JustPlay! at Carol Stream Town Center on Sunday, May 23 and later that day, he will be at U.S. Cellular Field to join the Chicago White Sox for a day of health and fitness.

Fire Soccer Discovery Day

Where:Edgewood Middle School, Highland Park, IL

What: Baggio will participate in a Q & A and sign autographs at "Fire Soccer Discovery Day" assembly for sixth grade students at Edgewood Middle School.

Chicago Sister Cities Community Soccer Clinic

Who: Steven Kinney, Krzysztof Krol, Justin Mapp, Peter Lowry and Dasan Robinson and mascot, Sparky

When: Thursday, May 20 4:00 - 6:00 PM CT

Where:Lincoln Park Turf Field - North Ave/La Salle St. Exit & Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, IL 60614

What:The Chicago Fire Soccer Club in conjunction with the Chicago Sister Cities International Cup will offer a FREE soccer clinic for children ages 7-14. Participants of the Sister Cities

Community Soccer Clinic will receive a skills clinic featuring soccer drills, technique instruction, and mini-games as well as exclusive Q&A and autograph session with Chicago Fire, Paris Saint-Germain, Legia Warsaw and Red Star Belgrade players; and a Chicago SCIC t-shirt. Space is limited.

JustPlay! 2010

What:JustPlay is returning bigger & better in 2010!

Chicago White Sox Game - Kids Day

What:Come join the White Sox, Chicago Fire Soccer Club and staff from other Chicago area sports teams at U.S. Cellular Field to celebrate a day of health and fitness. Take part in interactive games and learn how physical activity and sports relate to a fit, active, and healthy lifestyle. $1 tickets available for kids under 13 years of age with a fully paid adult ticket (Available at the U.S. Cellular Field box office on day of game only - subject to availability).
