Sporting Kansas City News Release

The Kansas City Wizards will face tough competition this weekend, when the undefeated Columbus Crew visit CommunityAmerica Ballpark Sunday at 3 p.m. CT. Both teams earned late results last weekend, with the Wizards fighting back from a two-goal deficit to tie the Chicago Fire 2-2 on the strength of second-half goals from striker Kei Kamara. Columbus maestro Guillermo Barros Schelotto converted a penalty kick in the 90th minute for a 1-0 win that pushed Columbus to 4-0-2 on the season.

Kamara has five goals on the season, good for 3rd place in MLS behind only Edson Buddle (9 goals) and Dwayne De Rosario (6 goals). Kamara is now just one goal behind his previous career high, set in 2009 when he scored five goals for the Houston Dynamo and one for the Kansas City Wizards. Kamara, who is in the midst of his 5th MLS season, has 19 career goals.

Schelotto is Columbus' ringleader and is the only Crew player to score more than one goal so far in 2010. He enters with four goals (two game-winners), while five other players have contributed one goal apiece for Columbus. The Crew will be without a pair of big-name players, as Robbie Rogers and Chad Marshall are in camp with the U.S. National Team ahead of the upcoming World Cup.

Kansas City will be without starting left back Roger Espinoza, who has joined the Honduras National Team for training camp ahead of the World Cup. Espinoza has started every game at left back so far in 2010 for Kansas City, and the Wizards will be forced adjust the lineup in that position Sunday.

Sunday's match will mark a return to local broadcasts on KCWE 29 after three consecutive national TV games. All 23 of Kansas City's remaining games will be shown live on KCWE in HD, with play-by-play man Dave Borchardt and analyst Sasha Victorine.
