Club Deportivo Chivas USA News Release

CARSON, Calif. (Wednesday, February 22, 2006) - Chivas USA forward Francisco 'Paco' Palencia will film a public service announcement for the American Red Cross following Chivas USA's morning practice tomorrow at The Home Depot Center. Media are invited to attend practice starting at 11:30 p.m. PT and get a 'behind-the-scenes' look at this special announcement, in which the two-time World Cup veteran will be accompanied by two blood recipient children, Juan Pablo Quintero and Víctor De León.

The 30-second spot, which will air on Southland television stations in both Spanish and English, promotes Chivas USA's joint campaign with the American Red Cross, aimed at encouraging soccer fans to donate life-saving blood on a regular basis, while educating the general public about blood shortages. The unique joint initiative, which will be officially launched in early March, kicks off with three major blood drives throughout the Greater Los Angeles area.

Since its founding in 1881 by visionary leader Clara Barton, the American Red Cross has been the nation's premier emergency response organization. As part of a worldwide movement that offers neutral humanitarian care to the victims of war, the American Red Cross distinguished itself by also aiding victims of devastating natural disasters.

Chivas USA, Major League Soccer's Mexican-owned, Los Angeles-based franchise, kicks off its second campaign in MLS on April 2, 2006 at 4:00 p.m. PT versus Real Salt Lake at The Home Depot Center in Carson, California. Tickets, starting at just $10 per game, are available by calling 1-877-CHIVAS-1 or online via www.CDCHIVASUSA.com.
