Club Deportivo Chivas USA News Release

Chivas USA fell by a 1-0 score to the LA Galaxy in the third and final Honda Super Clásico of 2009 on Saturday night at The Home Depot Center. The win earned the Super Clásico trophy for the Galaxy, who finished with two wins and a draw against Chivas USA this season.

David Beckham scored the game's only goal, and his first of the season, in the 80th minute after a rebound fell to the Galaxy midfielder just outside the box, and his bouncing shot hit the far post and went into the net.

With the loss, Chivas USA sits tied for fourth place in the Western Conference, but has two games in hand on every team ahead of the Red-and-White in the standings. Chivas USA has eight regular season games remaining as the team looks for a spot in the MLS Cup playoffs.

In addition to its league games, the Red-and-White will also face Chivas de Guadalajara on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 8:00 p.m. PT at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, Calif. The ‘ChivaClásico' is part of Guadalajara's 2009 U.S. tour, and will be the first time the two teams have ever faced off in the United States.
