Chisholm Leads the Way in Rubber Match Win

Visalia Rawhide News Release
VISALIA, CA - With the score tied at one in the third inning, Jasrado Chisholm took advantage of a stolen base by Mark Karaviotis. Chisholm singled into center to score a Karaviotis from second and put Visalia on top for the first time since the series opener on Tuesday night.
On back of a great night for Chisholm, los Toros would continue to add on and cruised to a 7-1 win and their first series win in about a month.
Chisholm added RBI singles in the fifth and sixth innings to right and left field respectively to pad the Visalia lead. His fourth hit of the night in the eighth nearly scored another run, but Luis Alejandro Basabe was thrown out at the plate by Giants center fielder Bryce Johnson.
Tonight was Chisholm's first four-hit game in a Visalia uniform and the first time he had driven in more than two runs. He's hitting .340 with four home runs and nine driven in since joining los Toros in late July three weeks ago. Chisholm also made three solid defensive plays at short.
Visalia starter Jeff Bain took the lead and ran with it. He surrendered a single run in the top of the first inning on three straight base hits by San Jose, two of which were softly hit, and locked in from there. Following Wander Franco's RBI single to right, Bain retired seven straight Giants hitters and delivered five more shutout innings.
He turned in his first Quality Start in a Toros uniform, going six strong innings while allowing just one run and scattering six San Jose hits. Bain (W, 1-1) walked only one and struck out four.
San Jose (48-63/14-27) received a season-best four innings from Mac Marshall, but Marshall faded once he moved into the middle innings. After taking the mound in the fifth for the first time this year, Marshall allowed his third run of the night when Basabe singled, Karavitois walks, and Chisholm drove Basabe home.
Marshall (L, 3-3) was lifted for Rodolfo Martinez, who allowed both inherited runners to score, though only one was earned to Marshall's credit. Marshall finished with four innings pitched and five runs allowed, four earned, on five hits with three walks and a pair of strikeouts.
The offense continued to churn out production for Visalia (54-57/17-24) as los Toros added on in the sixth and eighth innings.
Pavin Smith added two more RBIs, giving him five on the series, and Karaviotis drove home a run with a sac fly and scored two more.
The win gave Visalia their first series win since taking three games out of a five against the Giants that ended on July 3. The series losing streak spanned seven series and saw los Toros go 7-18. Â
Visalia welcomes Stockton to Rawhide Ballpark to kick off a three-game series tomorrow night. Los Toros will send RHP Connor Grey (8-7, 5.43) to the hill against Stockton RHP Wyatt Marks (0-0, -.--). First pitch is at 7 PM and tickets are available on rawhidebaseball.com.
